Prepare to be amused. Prepare for hilarity. Prepare for helpless laughter as this brand new play by Robert Askins hits the West End for the first time. Hand to God created a storm Off-Broadway in 2011 and 2014, made it to Broadway itself in 2015 and now it's in theatreland. That's what we call a meteoric rise and it is very well deserved, fuelled by rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. If you only see one West End comedy this year, make it this one. It's rare for a new show to get such stellar reviews and we're expecting a run on tickets. Buy yours while you can.
What's the story? The plot goes like this: a shy young student, Jason, is a member of his church's Puppet Mission, a puppeteer. When the sock puppet he's in charge of, a character called Tyrone, springs to life in all his foul-mouthed and provocative glory, Jason's blameless Christian life and strong values are called into question. Jason and everyone else who encounters the puppet is tempted to do bad, bad things... and they're surprisingly happy to give in. Small town Texas has never seen anything like it. And nor have you.
