It's been written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields. It's directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward. It comes fresh from the madly popular Mischief Theatre company, who have just accepted the offer of a run of almost 12 months at the Vaudeville theatre, presenting three plays, the first of which is the fabulous Groan Ups. We've all done it. We all start young and grow older. But how much – if at all – do we change in between childhood and adulthood? With the actors playing both roles, as kids and as adults, and all the splendid silliness you'd expect from this dazzlingly good comedy group, it's set to be a monster hit.
What's the plot? The award-winning Mischief bunch are taking a long, hard and very funny look at the process of growing up. And they ask us all sorts of important questions. Are you the same person at thirty than you were at 13? Have you grown out of that devastating school crush or do you still adore him / her? Does life at school relentlessly drive the future, leaving us trapped in the past, or do we escape our young, raw selves and emerge, fully formed and perfect, as grown up humans? They're all important questions, and you'll be amused to know that absolutely none of them are answered by this incredibly silly play.
